King of Shish Kabob, Woodland Park NJ Review
King of Shish Kabob in Woodland Park, NJ might as well be known as King of ‘insert menu item here’ – their kabobs are good but their shawarma is to die for, their lamb stuffed grape leaves are addictive and their house made Syrian lamb sausage is out of this world – and everything else not mentioned here is also super tasty.
Seabra’s Marisqueira, Newark NJ Review
The Ironbound section of Newark, NJ is well known for its great food but if fantastic seafood is your goal then Seabra’s Marisqueira should be your top choice. Located just off of Ferry Street, this place is a favorite among the locals and draws fans of authentic Portuguese cuisine from far and wide – one couple we regularly run into commute two hours from Connecticut to satisfy their taste buds.

Joe’s Ginger, NYC Review
Joe’s Ginger is a great spot to taste some decent Chinese cuisine, they have a few locations but I prefer the Pell Street area. The service is brisk and the atmosphere is nothing special but what keeps me coming back are the tasty soup dumplings. They have two versions, crab with pork and just pork – I prefer the plain pork buns but usually order both because, why not. Every once in a while I try something new on the menu, the Mei Fun is good as is their Moo Shu, the seafood casserole was a bit bland though.
Bar Cara, Bloomfield NJ Review
Bar Cara in Bloomfield, NJ is a casual Italian restaurant by Chef Ryan DePersio that focuses on fresh, quality ingredients. Pluses include a liquor license (which is a rarity in many NJ towns) as well as, consistent and tasty food. Minuses are few – a flash website that annoys the hell out of me, delicious burgers are only available on their lunch menu (and they don’t serve lunch on the weekends) and the bill can be pricey for what you get so you don’t go as often as you’d like (Ryan’s loss).
